Russel Mitchell Winter
Russel Mitchell Winter, 93, passed away on December 15, 2016. He grew up in West View and lived in Shaler for 66 years, until the passing of his wife Dorothy (Penisch) in 2015. He was a devoted father to James (Janice) Winter and Deborah Lynch. A wonderful “Pap Pap” to Jamie (Bernie) Lynch Weber, Elaina Winter, Stacie (Jeffrey) Lynch Yarosz, and Evan (Leslie) Winter. He was a great grandfather to Ian and Colby Weber, Ava Grace and Audrey Mae Yarosz, Corbin Woodley, Sydnie and Mackenzie Winter. He had a brother Milton Winter, of Arizona. Russel was preceded in death by his parents, Milton and Edna Winter and his sister, Edith Winter.
Russel was a telephone installer for Western Electric for over 40 years, and served his country during WWII in both, the US Army and Air Force. He was active in Christ Lutheran Church, AARP, Glenshaw Men’s Card Club, a member of the Masonic Corinthian Lodge for over 50 years and served Shaler at the election polls for 30 years.
He enjoyed hunting, photography, working bingos at Bauerstown Firehall, and playing cribbage with his family.
Friends will be received in the Eloise B. Kyper Funeral Home, Inc. 2702 Mt. Royal Blvd. Glenshaw, PA., on Sunday, December 18, 2016 from 4-8PM. A funeral ceremony will be held on Monday, December 19 at 10:00AM in the funeral home chapel.
Internment will be held in private.
